Comenius letter 7th grade November/December

Dear Comenius friends ,

We are happy we can tell you our experiences in the past two months. At the beginning of November a national contest called "EuroJunior" took place in our school,. The contest consisted of questions from all the subjects we are studying this year. We can't wait for the results.
At the middle of the month, we organized a trip to Turda and Alba Iulia. They are two very important towns in Romania.  In Turda we visited the salt mine “Salina”. It was built in 1271 and miners took salt from it for a long time.  Nowadays it was arranged as a wonderful tourist attraction.  It is said that it’s unique in Europe but it was opened for the public only a few month ago. If you come and visit us once, we’ll take you there to see it. If you can imagine… we went down 11 floors under the ground, in the mine, by a modern elevator. There was a large hall with lots of places for children to play, for adults to relax. And… there was a big carousel, too! We got on it and from the top of it we could admire the beautiful walls of the salt mine that looked like a very fine lace made of salt. At 125 meters under the ground there was a lake with boats on it. Many people go there to cure and relax.
After that , we visited the Ramet Monastery, one of the oldest Orthodox monastery in Romania. Then we went to Alba Iulia a historical town in Transylvania., the place where the King and Queen of Romania were enthroned in the big cathedral especially built for this event. We looked around it for 20 minutes and then we went around the city , visited the most important buildings like the Church or the Mayor's Hall. We came back home late at night after a 600 km trip. We were tired but very happy and thanked our class teacher, Antoaneta Boje for the idea of this trip.
At the beginning of December, it started to snow , but it only lasted two days and the weather got worse. It rained a lot and got cold and then snowed a lot. The thermometer went down to -21degrees. (like in Finland).
One day before we got our winter holiday we celebrated The 10th Anniversary of our English lab. We gathered three generations of students and parents (around 100 people) that learned in this room and were taught and ruled by our teacher DIRI (Antoaneta Boje) . We presented together with our parents some of the attractions that could tempt a tourist to choose Romania as a desired country to be visited : food, drinks, museums, natural attractions, resorts, etc. DIRI  had some surprises for all of us : dancers, singers that presented us wonderful artistic moments. But…the sweetest moment was at the end, the Anniversary cake made of three big chocolate hearts, one for each generation and another cake with the image of the classroom 10 years ago!!!
Now, we wish you a wonderful holiday, MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Dan is our colleague going to Finland and bringing to you the kisses from us .

              Best wishes,
